The Heat won big in Atlanta Sunday against a playoff caliber Hawks team. The game was big for both teams in seeing where they stood against some of the NBA’s best. In the end, Miami won 107-87 taking care of Atlanta convincingly. This may have sent a strong message around the league as the Heat are showing they can beat the games better teams even while on their courts away from South Beach. The Heat improved their record to 21-7 on the season and are now 9-5 away from home.
The Heat were led by Lebron who scored 23 to lead the team. He also led the team in assists with 6. Chris Bosh was a force under the hoop as he collected 16 rebounds to lead all. The Heat must continue to show they can win away from home if teams and analyst will take them as a serious threat to win the championship. Currently they remain first place in their division, but do not have too much room to work with as they must continue to produce wins. The team had 30 points or more in 2 quarters if the contest.
Atlanta moves to 18-10 with the loss and reduce their home record to 9-5 on the season. The team fell behind early as they were outscored 30-18 in the first quarter. They followed this up by being outscored 33-23 in the second and never looked back from their losing ways. Their leading scorer, Willie Green, had just 17 points in the contest. Other then 26 points they put up in the fourth quarter, they failed to score 25 in any other quarter.
